A Transmission Of Sound System Culture

Roots • Culture • Education • Vibration

Embassy of Sound is a daytime into evening session dedicated to the foundations, spirit, and future of reggae sound system culture.

Running from 3–11PM, this is a whānau-friendly gathering where people of all ages can come through, spend time together, and experience dub music the way it’s meant to be heard, through a proper sound system, in a shared space.

This is more than a dance. It’s an educational and cultural experience, creating space to understand where this music comes from and what it carries.

Throughout the session, expect:
Roots reggae and dub selections played with intention
Sound system culture in action — weight, depth, and physical bass
Selectors and hosts sharing knowledge of the music, its lineage, and its message
• A welcoming environment where you can listen, learn, connect, or move

FISH AND BREAD SOUNDSYSTEM

Fish & Bread originated in Auckland around 2016, as a sound system hand-built specifically to celebrate the rich catalogue of reggae based music from Jamaica and Europe.

We believe that reggae and dub music is best delivered through a sound system, where the music and message can be felt as well as heard. We play regularly around Auckland and beyond, either on our sound or similar, with the intention to bring heartfelt roots music to those who need it. Expect a musical journey from the mystical to the militant and beyond.

MIKEY MAJESTIC

Majestic Sounds mission is to serve up the best handpicked selections of Dub, Roots, Reggae on vinyl; using music to bring people together through the values of kotahitanga (unity) and manaaki – to cherish, conserve and sustain our public spaces.

Mikey began as a radio dj on 95bFM in 1995; since then he has supported overseas artists such as Mad Professor and Lee Perry, performed at legendary festivals The Gathering and Ruapuke Roots. Mikey is the builder and operator of Majestic Sound System. Selector 6ftSTIX was formally introduced to sound system culture back in 2011 during his time living in London. He joined Majestic Sounds in 2019, sharing his passion for music from Jamaica, Africa and the dub diaspora. Together, we are Majestic Sounds.
