The Button Campfires

A Campfire – for our creative community ( residents, members, presenters, producers, co-creators … )

Working to make a living, engaging in creative pursuits, and building a life in the city takes immense energy. Right now, the “bubbling essence” and magic of collective creation at The Button Factory is undeniable. But sustaining that magic amidst the noise of the everyday and the sheer weight of survival in Auckland’s Central City can be exhausting.

Usually, when we hit a wall, we might look for external solutions, put our heads down, or let our survival instincts take over.

But what if these challenges are actually the spark for something deeper?

The Button Factory is inviting a core group of engaged individuals to shift from simply “using a space” into active stewards of a living ecosystem. We want to foster genuine collaboration and deeper involvement by lighting a Campfire – a shared space for holding and passing the torch.

The Crucible & Meeting Rhythm

The Button Campfires is an ongoing, rhythm-based transformation crucible. It is designed to free up your time, energy, and resources so you can pursue your creative work unhindered.

This is not a facilitated workshop, and it is not a therapy group. It is a space to take off your mask, drop your personal agenda, and reconnect with the essence of who you truly are.

We will gather in two rhythms:

1. The Weekly Online Campfire (90 Minutes) Every week, we connect on Google Meet to relate and burn. In this space there is no one for you to be and nothing for you to do. You can come and simply rest and listen or burn some “firewood”—the real challenges, friction, or messiness you are currently experiencing in your life and work. We burn or witness others burning to discover and manifest new capacity. [Next online campfire: Tuesday 27 October 2026, 3–4:30pm]

2. The 6-Week In-House Gathering (3 Hours) Every six weeks, we gather physically at The Button Factory around a shared meal. Here, we will consciously practice reciprocal exchange by bringing our prosperity and abundance to share—whether that is a jar of homemade marmalade, some old clothes, or a tray of tomato seedlings —embodying the founding spirit of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland: if we share, all will prosper, and before the potluck we will have a ‘campfire’. [First Gathering date: Tuesday 10th of November, 3-6pm]

The Perimeter (Working Principally)

To keep the fire burning, we hold a strict boundary at the edge of the camp, this is a space for discovery not teaching or task lists. When you step into this space, you agree to practice these developmental principles:

our mess is our curriculum – we use the messiness of our lives to fuel our evolution.

flow over force – nothing is forced in this space, we work with flow. If you just want to listen and watch the fire that is fine.

witness with care – fumbling and stumbling are part of the discovery process. It can often mean we are on the edge of our current understanding and are about to discover something new. We witness with care as the struggle is necessary to build the ‘muscle’ to see.

burn to discover – sharing and burning are close cousins in this space. Here it is about discovering our own wisdom.

The Exchange (Living Currency)

This offering is not a funded workshop, and there is no fixed fee. It operates on the physics of Living Currency.

We are actively breaking the habit of being transactional consumers. You are invited to step into reciprocal exchange with the system. When you experience value, your natural response is to reciprocate—directly to the space, to the community, or through the sharing table at our gatherings. True systemic wealth comes from what we circulate, not what we hoard.
