Sensate by Alyssa Beckwith

Alyssa Beckwith is a painter working within the ambiguous intersection of figurative and abstract. Her practice explores the territories of the self, drawing from memory, sensation, and the restless perceptions of the surrounding world.
This body of work moves fluidly between moments of tension and tenderness. It expands and contracts—shifting between abstracted interpretations of experience and sensation and more crystalline, figurative forms.
Sensate invites the viewer to snag on reminiscent forms — suggestions of the bodily, memory, and conflicting sensations. The work reflects the complexity and mutability of experience and identity, offering a kind of encounter with the unstable nature of being.
