The Button Factory presents a whānau-friendly afternoon and evening of music, markets and community at Auckland Old Folks Association, just across the road at 8 Gundry Street.

Our full live lineup brings together Epizo Bangoura, Alice Sea, Na’amah and The O’Connors — from West African rhythms and live-looped world sounds to intimate folk songs and rich family harmonies.

Come for a rummage through the indoor market, meet the makers and settle in for live music into the evening. Bring the kids, gather your friends and make a day of it in the neighbourhood, with Cross Street Festival happening nearby.

A master griot, musician and dancer from Guinea, carrying West African storytelling through percussion, strings and song.

Born in Conakry, Guinea, Epizo Bangoura draws on the griot tradition of sharing history through music and storytelling. His playing moves between djembe, balafon and the flowing melodies of the kora. A career spanning Africa, Europe, New York and Australia has brought his expressive musicianship to audiences around the world.

Alice Sea

A Tauranga-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter weaving voice, rhythm and melody into expansive live soundscapes.

Alice Sea brings together world, folk and pop influences with a love of movement and improvisation. Using live looping, vocals, synths, didgeridoo and wind and string instruments, she builds layered music that can shift from intimate listening to dancing. Alongside performing, Alice works as a dancer, storyteller and music educator.

Na’amah

A New Zealand singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music brings together acoustic warmth, jazz influences and candid storytelling.

Na’amah’s songs make room for vulnerability, poetry and the nuances of everyday feeling. Her self-titled EP pairs acoustic songwriting with jazz influences across four original tracks, including Knots, Greener Grass and Speak. A vocalist and session musician as well as a songwriter, she has also appeared on stages alongside artists including Annahstasia and HINA.

The O’Connors

Father-daughter trio Sean, Acacia and Rosie O’Connor. All original songs from “a lifetime of soul” to feed the spirit and nourish you on your journey.

The O’Connors bring together soulful storytelling and the close harmonies of a family that has made music together for years. Their original songs blend folk balladry and Celtic melodies with acoustic guitar and gentle rhythmic textures. Tender, uplifting and full of feeling, their music draws on lived experience and the connections that hold people together.
