West Meets East – A Harmonious Union where traditions Merge, transporting listeners on a sonic journey from the banks of the Ganges to the streets of Western World.

Welcome to a cozy hangout space in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, with a new music fusion project this Summer. Experience the mesmerizing fusion of “West Meets East ” in this unique musical collaboration. The soulful sounds of the sitar, the soaring melodies of the violin, and the rhythmic pulse of the tabla come together in a harmonious blend of traditional Indian classical and contemporary Western music.

This innovative fusion creates a rich tapestry of sound that transcends cultural boundaries, transporting listeners on a sonic journey from WEst to East . From the intricate ragas of Indian classical to the improvisational spirit of jazz and Western Classical Music.

As always, we’ll have Aroha Chai brewing, plus snack to keep you brimming with delight!

Sargam Madhur is an up and coming Sitar player from Auckland receiving her training from India.

Sargam Madhur is an upcoming Sitar player fromAuckland, who started learning Sitar, a traditionalIndian music instrument under the guidance of hergrandfather Prof. Shukdev Madhur and nowreceiving higher training from India. Sargam hasperformed in many prestigious festivals in NewZealand such as the Auckland Arts Festival, TaurangaArts Festival, International Yoga Festival of NZ 2019,and Spirits Festival to name a few. Her performancesat the ‘Tribute concert for Pt. Ravi Shankar – 2020″and performance with Tristan Carter at “An Eveningof World Music” in Auckland were highly appreciated.She has been also featured in a prestigious tour ofNew Zealand: “Arts on Tour“ as a part of India meetsIreland in 2024 and has been admired all over NewZealand for her performances.

Basant is a widely acknowledgedtabla player and a much-respected artiste in thearena of Indian Classical Music. Monique Lapins

Monique has worked as second Violinist of the " New Zealand string Quartet" & Lecturer at the School of music, Victoria University of wellington.

Monique Lapins was most recently Second violinist of the New Zealand String Quartet and Lecturer at New Zealand School of Music - Te Kōkī, Victoria University of Wellington. She is the violinist of the Ghost Piano Trio who, will tour with CMNZ in 2025, and performs regularly with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Orchestra Wellington. She has been a finalist twice in the Asia Pacific Chamber Music Competition and has performed in festivals throughout France, the Czech Republic, Holland, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and at the Open Chamber Music Seminars in Prussia Cove directed by world-renowned cellist, Steven Isserlis. Monique has toured extensively in collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Monique has performed with artists including Seiji Ozawa (conductor) in Japan, Philippe Herreweghe (conductor) in France, Jerusalem String Quartet in New Zealand (Adam Chamber Music Festival - ACMF), Dénes Várjon (pianist) in New Zealand (ACMF) and as a soloist with French violinist, Oliver Charlier in Japan. Monique has also collaborated across genres with artists including Horomona Horo; as guest violinist with Shades of Shakti; guest violinist with Krakerjack and in partnership with Irish guitarist, Dave Flynn. Monique Lapins is a recording artist with Naxos and Rattle Labels and performs on a 1883 Gand violin kindly loaned on loan from the Rin Collection in Singapore.
