Crafting The Commons
As The Button Factory enters a new chapter, we’re inviting you to help transform the space into a colourful, welcoming haven.
Join us for an afternoon and evening of connection, creativity, rhythms, and shared vision as we weave warmth, vibrancy, and playfulness into our collective space.
Led by the Give Make Live crew and Craft Jam, this is less a workshop and more a living working bee. A chance to gather through the simple act of making a place feel cared for, alive, and human again.
Throughout the jam we’ll be sewing, decorating, yarn bombing, sharing food, listening to music, making things together, and slowly transforming parts of The Button Factory and Abbey Street to show loud and proud that creativity is alive here and all are welcome.
Bring old fabrics, wool, materials, ideas, tools, snacks, instruments, or simply your presence.
This is about collective stewardship. About shaping the kinds of spaces we want to exist in. About colour, warmth, and reclaiming creativity from passive consumption.
There’ll be a loose design brief for cohesion, plus guidance for yarn work, bunting-making, and collaborative decorating. We’d also love to gather ideas for future transformations of the space.
We hope this becomes a recurring bi-monthly Craft Jam where people come together to create intentionally, organically, and in connection.
Sliding scale: $10–30
No experience needed.
All ages welcome.
A community space becomes meaningful through the people who leave their fingerprints on it.
